Biography

Carolyn’s interest in painting began as an aspiring artist in her youth. Growing up in Southwest Arkansas, she was surrounded by lakes, rolling hills and forests. She engaged in artistic endeavors with plans to further her studies in art and design. After retirement from a career in human resources management, she resumed her artistic pursuits.

She has cultivated her style working in oils and acrylics. In 2011, Carolyn discovered Plein Air painting through her association with Southern California Plein Air Painters Association and renewed her passion for the great outdoors. She enjoys painting as an expression of her love for nature. The process enables her to participate with beauty and connect with its peaceful tranquility. Carolyn’s work expresses her passion for painting through vivid color and light. While also painting in her studio,   she creates picturesque landscapes in oil, acrylic and pastel painting realistically with an impressionistic flair.

In 2014 she relocated to Prescott, Arizona where she rekindled her inspiration from the scenic landscapes of the high desert. She continues to develop her craft and expand her aptitude through classes and workshops. She has continued her education through classes with Robert Goldman, Betty Carr, Eric Slayton and Diane Iverson and other workshops.

Carolyn has participated in several Prescott art festivals on the Courthouse Square including two Mother’s Day festivals. She also participated in SOCALPAPA Annual juried Art Festivals 2010, 2011 and 2012, Newport Beach, California.
